Or maybe I should say why me?

I am passionate about information management (IM) and just as passionate about developing practical solutions to improve an organisation’s information environment. For many years, I worked as an information management consultant within other companies such as Filecorp and BearingPoint and then as the director and owner of Strategic Information Management Solutions Ltd.

During my consulting years I worked on a variety of projects for both government and private clients across New Zealand and Australia. Clients included Wellington City Council, Civil Aviation Authority, Aviation Security, Rothmans New Zealand and Rothmans Australia, Westpac Bank (Australia), Metrowater, Watercare, Department of Corrections, Transpower, Boral (Australia), Vector and its predecessors Mercury Energy and Auckland Electric Power Board, Department of Internal Affairs, Fonterra and Boffa Miskell.

Projects included taxonomy (file plan) development, retention schedules, IM strategies, IM policies, training and change management. For the last eight years, I was employed by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), initially as ICT Capability Manager for the ECMaaS all-of-government panel for enterprise content management systems. I worked with both the panel vendors (OpenText, Team Asparona and Intergen) and government clients, promoting uptake, managing service changes and negotiating issues.

More recently, and still within DIA, I spent the last three years at Archives New Zealand. While there, I led the team that developed the IM Maturity Assessment, and was heavily involved with the establishment of the new Public Records Act audit programme. I also developed and delivered the training programme for Archives New Zealand’s audit service providers. I was also involved with assessing ECM vendor applications for the DIA Marketplace, to assess whether they comply with Archives New Zealand’s minimum mandatory requirements for ECM solutions. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, a post-graduate diploma for NZ Library School, and I am a certified records manager (CRM) with the Institute of Certified Records Management (USA).

I also have a Masters in Business Information Management from the University of South Australia. I am absolutely committed to adding value to client projects, providing quality deliverables throughout an engagement and maintaining an honest relationship with clients.
